Soak bread crumbs in milk for half an hour. Cream together the shortening and brown sugar. Add the bread crumb mixture, flour, spices, molasses, baking soda and raisins to the shortening and sugar mixture. Bake in a buttered 1 1/2 quart casserole for 45 minutes at 350°F
Sauce:
Melt the butter in a double boiler on the stove top. Stir in the sugar, flour, vinegar, and nutmeg. Keep warm and serve over the pudding.
