Christmas Cookies

(from Grandma Bauer)

1 lb. butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
4 eggs
4-6 cups flour (or more)
3 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup milk

Mix together all ingredients but flour. Add flour until thoroughly mixed. Chill dough at least 1 1/2 hours. Roll out cookie dough thinly, cut figures, and place on a baking sheet. Bake at 350°F for 5-8 minutes. Cool. Frost.

Frosting:

confectioners sugar
milk
food coloring

Mix confectioners sugar with a tiny amount of milk, until the consistency is stiff enough to stay on the cookie without sliding off. Stir in food coloring.
