Dark Fruitcake

(from the Egerer sisters)

1 lb. brown sugar
1 lb. flour
1 lb. butter
10 eggs
3 lbs. raisins
2 lbs. currants
1 lb. citron
1 cup molasses
1/2 cup brandy
1 Tbs. baking soda
2 Tbs. ground cloves
3 Tbs. ground cinnamon
2 Tbs. ground allspice
2 Tbs. ground mace

Baked in greased, floured pans at 275F for 2 hours 15 minutes.

This recipe is thought to come from the old country (Germany) with the Egerer sisters in the mid-1800s.
