Poppy Seed Cake

(from Mom's high school friend Emily)

Beat egg whites until stiff; set aside. Cream butter and sugar together. Add 1 egg yolk at a time to the butter and sugar mixture. Add poppy seeds, sour cream, and vanilla. Mix together flour, baking soda, and salt. Add slowly. Fold in egg whites.

Grease and flour a tube pan or 9"x13" pan. Bake at 350°F for one hour. Cool 5 minutes. Remove from pan and sprinkle with sugar.
