Served over buttered noodles

Swedish Meatballs

Swedish Meatballs

Mix meat, bread crumbs, milk, egg, onions, salt, nutmeg, and pepper in a large bowl and mix thoroughly, adding additional bread crumbs if the mixture is too moist.

Heat shortening in large skillet. Form meat mixture into 1” balls. Brown in skillet. Use more shortening as needed. Remove and keep warm.

Add hot water to drippings and bring to boil. Blend flour and cold water. Stir into hot mixture. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Add sour cream and blend well. Return meat to skillet. Cover and simmer 30 minutes.
