English Trifle

(from "Aunt Gerry" Bauer)

Aunt Gerry writes: "First of all, it has to be made in a glass bowl because it is such a pretty dessert to look at. I use a glass fruit bowl. If you have to make it for 20 to 30 people, double the recipe and use a fruit punch bowl."

"Slice your angel food cake in slices about 1/4” thin. Lay it on the bottom and around the sides of the bowl. Then make your Jello and when it is like egg white add fruit cocktail or whatever fruit you want into it. Pour into the bowl. The angel food cake will come up a little bit but that’s okay. When your Jello is set you put sliced banana, pineapple chunks, and strawberries on it. Make your instant pudding ahead of time and put that over your sliced fruit and top with whipped cream. Top with strawberries for decoration. You can also make it in peach Jello with sliced peaches – that’s delicious. I hope you can understand all this. It looks like a lot of steps but once you do it, it’s a snap."

Lots of luck,
Gerry Bauer
